Byju Tharayil is a qualified HR, Administration, and Operations specialist with more than two decades of experience in heading human capital operations in India, the UAE, and the broader GCC. His career has been marked by leadership roles in both top Indian corporations and multinational corporations. He has extensive experience in training and development, succession planning, employee relations, performance management, and talent recruitment.
Byju is in charge of India-wide strategic HR functions, as well as in the UAE and the UK, with responsibility for talent acquisition, payroll, performance systems, and policy development in HR. He also works with the C-suite to align HR strategy with more general business goals and turn people functions into a catalyst for organisational growth.
Before that, he worked as HR Manager for Elite Mission Hospital, where he developed and implemented strong HR systems such as KPI-based performance frameworks, dynamic HR policies, and employee engagement plans. His prior experience in the UAE includes over ten years as HR Manager at Bin Moosa & Daly Ltd LLC, Abu Dhabi, where he created training procedures for hiring, performance reviews, and policies and attained measurable gains in worker productivity.
Byju's experience also includes HR and immigration leadership with Satyam Computer Services (Dubai) and HR management positions at Joy Alukkas Group, where he initially started his career as a Showroom Manager and transitioned to HR leadership. His combination of operational leadership and human resources has given him a comprehensive understanding of how to match employee performance with organisational goals.
Academically, Byju has an MBA in Human Resources from Bharathidasan University, India; a diploma in HR from Academic College of London; and a BA in Economics from the University of Calicut. He has also enhanced his profile by earning certifications in coaching (British University in Dubai) and performance management (ILM, London), which has given his abilities a global edge.
